I recently discovered that my sister was housing her camera in an pink glove. A cheap, pink knit glove. I try to never miss an opportunity to create, so I quickly promised her I'd sew her something a little less...glove-y. And behold, the media wristlet!
Materiels Needed:
-1/4 yard of fabric
-velcro
-a pretty button (optional)
-ring
-clasp
1. Cut your fabric into these shapes...
2. Take one of your flap pieces and sew the velcro onto it. Sew it on now instead of later so that the stitches won't be visible on the front of the flap.
3. Put your two flap pieces right sides together and sew them together along the curved side. Turn it right side out and iron it.
4. Let's make a sandwich! Take two body pieces, wrong sides together, and put your flap on top. Sew them all together along the straight edge.
5. Serge along all sides of your strap. If you don't have a serger, don't worry, just skip this step. Fold it in half the long way and iron it.
6. Iron the seams over on both sides.
7. Fold the strap over and sew all down the side.
8. Fold the fabric on one end of the strap over the clasp and sew.
9. Repeat with the ring.
11. Take the other two body pieces and sew them along the top, right sides together, then turn them right side out and iron. Sew the other piece of velcro onto this piece.
11. Time for another sandwich! Take the flap/body piece from step 4, place your strap into one of the corners (fold a section of the strap over and let a little chunk hang out of the side)...
...then add the other body piece on top.
Sew them together all along the curved side, taking care not to run over the strap except at the corner piece.
13. Add a button, if you want...
Now you have a great little media holder! Put your camera in it, put your ipod in it, you could even put your cell phone in there!
